Downloading FET

     1. Download FET from the below location -
          http://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/download.html
2. click on the link – Latest version executable for Windows: FET-5.16.0 – 12 December 2011

Installing FET

3.   Extract the downloaded file  to C:\drive as shown in the image below

Run FET Application

Go to extracted folder  C:\fet-5.16.0 and double click on FET executable.

10. Define the time constraints in the following menu.

In the above example the Physical Education subject is marked such that, this period will never occur in the first period and after 1:45 PM on Saturdays. If the subject period must not come on a specific time, then select subject name and mark when it should not occur.

If the Subject teacher is not available on a particular time, then select the teacher name from the above menu and mark when on which time they are not available.

      11. Define Time Table output folder

FET will create the timetable in html format and it will place it in the specified folder. Choose the output folder from the below menu.

       12. Generate Time Table

Go to Timetable menu and click on generate new. If you have defined less number of constraints, the time table will be generated quickly. If the constraints are more, then it will take time.

Once the time table is generated successfully, You can quickly view it from view teachers, or view students. To see the html and printable version go to to output folder which you specified in the previous steps, you can get teachers, students and school level timetable.

      13.  Save Everything for later use.

Student Progress Report Card Generation – does your school still do it manually?

When it comes to school management, there are two faces to the complexity of how efficiently you manage your school, first how efficiently you manage school’s academic activities, secondly  how you can manage your administrative activities, within the available resources i.e, staff and teachers when your school is rapidly growing without overloading your teaching or non-teaching staff with unrelated tasks in their  day to day activities. This is one of the main problem that every school has to address at some point when you are growing.

In this blog post we will only focus on one of the main academic activity which involves teachers, parents and management, i.e., students performance evaluation, progress report generation and communication. Progress report generation is based on every student’s scholastic and co-scholastic evaluation. It involves two aspects, firstly teaches have to continuously monitor and evaluate their respective class students in both scholastic and co-scholastic (Part A and Part B subjects in case of State Board) areas by conducting regular tests and exams, which is inline with their primary responsibility of Teaching and evaluating students, as we all agree.

It  is as good as sending sms from your mobile phone. managing the mobile numbers, students class/section/grade details is very difficult in such software or services.

Typically in case of bulk sms services or service providers will have three kinds of delivery modes based on the speed with which the messages are delivered to the intended recipients i.e., marketing route – which will be very slow, it would take anywhere from 1 hour to 1 day. service route – which would take any where between 10miniutes to 6 hours approximately., and critical route – in which case the messages are delivered instantly without any delay in some cases it might take up to 30 minutes.

But bulk sms service has no such restrictions. you can send as many sms as possible. however, if you are sending marketing sms’s the message sent to NDNC ( National Do Not Call Registered mobile numbers) will not be delivered, as TRAI has strictly mandated every bulk sms provider to check the number and block if the number is registered in NDNC.

There is always an urge to give more to our customers in terms of Service and product features.  In School Admin our School administration software, we have restricted our selves to core features such as Student Information, Fee Payment, Attendance, Marks Card generation, TC and Pre-Admission etc., along with SMS and Contact less cards for Employee Attendance and Payroll, these modules uniquely address the needs of Indian Schools and collages.

At some point we thought of implementing  Time Table Generation Module in our School Software. when we looked into what it takes to implement, we realised time table generation in itself a product and it would take much more time and resources to implement than what we have taken to build our school admin software.

But for many of our customers Time Table generation is one of the key feature and they did not want to invest money again for buying Time Table software. Also, they did not want to have multiple vendors for school software.

It was very difficult situation, we want our customers to be happy and get what they needed at the same time we did not wanted to reinvent the wheel, which is a mammoth task.  Hence, we started looking out for what is freely available in the internet which would suffice the needs of very small and medium schools at the same time should help Big Schools and Universities with thousands of Students also to be able to use the time table generation from a free time table software.

With in short time we were able to get what we needed – FET.

If you spend some time understanding it’s concepts and read and follow some of the FET tutorials, you can generate a neat time table for your Students and also for the Teachers with in minutes of configuration (auto generation might take hours based on your schools constraints such as teachers availability, time gap etc).
